This certificate focuses on the investigation, modelling and improvement of business processes. Candidates are examined on their modelling and analysis skills. The syllabus covers a range of modelling and analysis techniques which should be used within a framework for business process improvement. For each technique, the candidate should be able to:

There are no specific pre-requisites for entry to the examination, however candidates should be suitably prepared and possess the appropriate skills and knowledge to fulfil the objectives. Holders of the ISEB Certificate in Modelling Business Processes should be able to:
1. The context for business process modelling 1.1. Relationship between business systems and automated systems 2. Identifying business processes 2.1. Definition of a business process 3. Modelling business processes 3.1. Overview of different modelling techniques (swim lane diagrams,
activity diagrams) 4. Evaluating and improving business processes 4.1. Modelling as-is business processes 5. Transition from business modelling to system requirement specification 5.1. Extent of IT support for the business processes
The examination will consist of a one hour open book written examination, with 15 minutes reading time. Candidates who are awarded a pass for the examination are awarded the ISEB Certificate in Modelling Business Processes Two days non-residential. Public and in-house. |
